It’s not that I think my life is so interesting that I need to share it with the world. But sometimes cooking and life intersect in unique ways. So in an attempt to become a disciplined and consistent blogger, I’ve added these categories to keep things moving when I haven’t had a chance to put up a new recipe.
Like for instance, the night at our cabin when we roasted peaches in the fire pit and topped them with caramel sauce while watching the meteor shower.
Or the teenagers in the neighborhood who often show up at my house at dinner time—It took me a while to figure out how one girl always managed to show up at my house on the nights I was making her favorite meals. My son, Alex, finally clued me in, “Duh, Mom! She texts me and asks me almost every night what’s for dinner!”
And then there’s Alex’s production company. I do some of the catering for the productions, as well as producing them! That’s how my son bribes his friends to be in his latest films, “My mom will feed you.”
Food really is the way to a man’s (and a teenager’s) heart, and is a great way to bring people together to share amazing experiences like meteor showers, bon fires, and to get through hellacious film shooting schedules.
8/1/2021- I’m embarrassed to say that several years have passed since starting this blog, and I was only consistent with posting for the first couple years. But that’s because much changed in those years. The boys grew up and flew the coop. In 2014 I reconnected with the love of my life, Mark, we moved in together in 2015, and married in 2017. In 2019 we bought a business: audiophileusa.com, and Mark was able to turn his favorite hobby, collecting vinyl records, into a career. I’ve also been on the board of directors for the Holiday Park Corporation, our cabin community for 4 years, the last 3 as the president. So saying I’ve been busy is an understatement.
I have kept cooking, but just haven’t been posting. But now that the boys live out on their own, they want my recipes, so I realized it would really be easier to start blogging again so they can just look them up.
Next week Arroz con Pollo will be going up. Stay tuned!
